Te Kura Golf Tournament 2021

Image
The annual Te Kura Golf Tournament was again played in November. This year 63 participated and it was good to see new faces as well as the regular attendees. The Waitikiri course was in excellent condition, but the wind added an extra challenge to the afternoon. Due to the excellent support of our sponsors a platter of food was provided to each group at the conclusion of the round, all players went home with a prize and the day was enjoyed by all. A thank-you to the Wellington branch of the association who donated the Auld Tekurians Trophy to the Christchurch branch this year as they no longer hold an annual golf tournament. A big thank-you goes to our sponsors, many who have been supporting us for several years. Without their support we wouldn’t have been able to provide a prize for every player. We hope this tournament will continue to prosper with an influx of new players required each year. The date for next year’s tournament is under review and will be advertised in future news

Recollect – The New CBHS Digital Archive

The School is in the process of developing an online digital archive.  The ‘Recollect’ website will enable the vast range of historical documents and images of the school, its students and staff, to be collected in one place and will make the information available to the worldwide CBHS community. Initially the site will be available to view the information, but in the future, it is intended that it will be expanded to enable the community to update and record their own information, as well as name the thousands of unnamed images held at school.  We hope they have the site live by the end of 2021.  It will initially include all school magazines as well as some other publications and a set of images, including a digital walk though of the Main Block which is currently closed for renovation. There is a significant cost to the set up and maintenance of the site.  The setup has been largely funded through Lottery Heritage Grants as well as from school funds, but in order to continue the sit

From the President

This year marks the 109th year of the Christchurch Boys’ High School Old Boys Association. At the AGM earlier this year I succeeded John Osborne as President and I, along with others on the Association Executive, would like to acknowledge the contribution John has made over many years to the School community as a Board Member and Chair, along with the Old Boys Association. I for one am pleased that John remains an active and willing member of the Old Boys Association committee. In February the Old Boys Association made a commitment to support the headmaster’s public statements about the value of diversity, and we continue to support the school in its moves to champion inclusivity as well as our own objectives. The Association wholly supports the School, as it works to promote the values of gratitude, inclusivity and diversity. The Association in affirmation of the goals is taking the actions below. Publicly supporting the message of the school that all students are valued. Organising e
